Il Volo is a sensational Italian operatic pop group that is made up of Gianluca Ginoble, Piero Barone, and Ignazio Boschetto. They first got their start in the Italian singing competition Ti Lascio una Cazone, where they were put together by a producer. Gianluca won the competition, but then decided to be part of Il Volo, which means “the flight” in Italian. With their signature song “’O Sole Mio,” Il Volo began to gain international recognition and soon began working on their 2010 self-titled debut album. Operatic pop is a subgenre of pop music with operatic singing over classical music, and it is a style in which greats like Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, and Sarah Brightman have made popular. Operatic pop is currently becoming more popular and drawing in multiple audiences of different backgrounds and countries.
