Recently, Youtube added a Sponsorship feature to a small number of their content creator channels as part of a beta experiment. It started with only gaming channels but now has expanded to every type of content shared on the platform.
With this new feature, fans from all over the world can now directly pay their favorite creators by subscribing to a monthly subscription in the value of $4.99. This not only helps their favorite YouTubers generate more revenue but also gives some perks to the sponsors. Some of these perks include giving fans access to custom emojis that they can use to comment on videos and live streams, a sponsors community tab, public-facing badges next to the user name, which will appear in all comments and live chats made, and also exclusive live chats offered from time to time depending on the YouTuber's availability.
If you are a content creator or an artist yourself this is indeed great news for you! Research done on the beta version of the YouTube's main website and app has shown that fans have been very responsive to this new feature and are willing to support their favorite creators. One of the first YouTubers to use this sponsorships service acquired more than1,800 sponsors over a three month period. This can seem like a low number but it that the YouTuber will earn a great additional profit of $8,982 to what he/she is already making out of ads and views. And this is just the beginning!
This is a great incentive for creators since a massive amount of videos and channels have been demonetized by YouTube in the past months as a result of a stricter language and content policy.
This new sponsorship program can mean that YouTubers will be able to improve their content quality and invest more time and money on creating better quality content! So don't be afraid on investing in who you enjoy watching and believe would be a good investment because the sponsorship subscription can be terminated at any time with just a few clicks.

IGTV's video format is only going to be vertical in order to fill smarthphones full screen without flipping it. Which will limit some content creators but please others.
