Celina- What is a typical day like for you? What do you like to do?
Alex- School is first, I knock out my homework, then I usually jump into my studio to create music and work on ideas.
C- What type of music do you perform?
A- I guess you would call it Pop music. I think it’s a little more rhythmic than straight ahead pop. I started as a dancer and DJ so I like music with a beat.
C-What is your process for creating a new song?
A- Sometimes I write the music then go back and fill in with the words. Sometimes I start with only a looped beat and some chords then write lyrics, melody, and hook over that. Then I go back and build the song around it.
C-What artists do you look up to?
A- I look up to Drake, Kanye, Jon Bellion, Diplo. I also look up to people that are out there doing this on their own like Chance The Rapper.
C- What accomplishments have you had as an artist? Don’t be scared to brag!
A- I have made it onto the iTunes charts as an independent artist, that’s exciting. Everything we accomplished is big since I am independent. We don’t take anything for granted, and appreciate every moment. The fact that I have people that are fans of mine is amazing.
C- What is your ultimate goal as a musician?
A- I want to win the EGOT- Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony! HA! My goal is just to get better, and grow with everything I do. I never thought I would be able to do what I am doing now… a year ago. I can’t wait to see what I am doing a year from now. It’s all about elevating and getting better every time. I am excited for the future.
C- What makes you different from your competition?
A- I think I am a Swiss army knife. I don’t just sing. I am releasing music that I wrote, and produced, I am dancing, and DJing. Last month, I played a major role in my school musical. I want to be the Lebron of music. He isn’t just a good scorer, he’s also an amazing passer and rebounder. I don’t want only ONE part of my game to excel. I need to be able to compete and win at every lane I am dabbling in.
C- Do you have any big plans in the future as an artist? Any upcoming gigs that people can go see?
A- I am performing at a big music festival this summer called Bunburry Music Festival in Cincinnati Ohio. I am also working on other touring opportunities.
C- What do you think you need to get where you want to be in your career?
A- Just need people to believe, that’s all. I think if I create good music and put it out into the world, things will fall into place. I continue to get better, put good people around me, and release good music. That will make me satisfied.
C- Why do you think you would be a good candidate for Artist of the Week?
A- I think people should understand that I am me. You are not getting someone that has been created by someone else. My team is my family. I am just getting started. I am truly appreciative of even being approached about this to be considered. Thank you.
